Frightful Cocktails for Halloween

t’s almost Halloween!  One of two times a year when it’s okay to dress like a slutty sailor–the other being Comic-Con.  Last year, I dressed up as the Borg Queen and was told that she’s not a dominatrix.  I told the guy to use his imagination.  Then I assimilated him.

Halloween is one of the biggest parties of the year, so if you’re going to look easy, you might as well drink easy:

A classic cocktail with a painful name, Blood & Sand ($11) at The Atlas Room is cool and gritty with Famous Grouse Scotch whiskey, vermouth, Cherry Heering and fresh orange juice.  Shaken and served with an orange zest.  1015 H Street NE, Washington, DC. 202.388.4020.

If your ears are ringing, it might be because Bull Dog Gin, dry and sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters and orange juice make up a powerful shot called “Satan’s Whisper” ($5) at Asia Nine.  915 E Street NW, Washington, DC. 202.629.4355.

On October 31, the devil is alive and well from 5:00-7:30 pm at J&G Steakhouse, with $5 El Diablos–Lunazul Silver tequila, crème de cassis and ginger beer, garnished with a lime wheel.  515 15th Street NW Washington, DC. 202.661.2440.
