In fact, this pop-up coffee shop located inside of Darnell’s Bar, a vintage watering hole by night, is more than inviting to any and all.
With employees that blend in with customers and the drool-inducing aroma of high-quality coffees and freshly baked goods, its intimate atmosphere could charm the skinny jeans off even the most prudish of café-goers.
The front window seats strewn with bohemian throw pillows are perfect for a day of reading, but I took my tasty mug of Colombian coffee to the backroom where a barista was mixing up cookie dough, R. Kelly’s “Bump and Grind” was jamming through the speakers, and a comfy throne-like chair and ottoman awaited me.
As if I wasn’t already feeling buttered up, the roasted chorizo sausage sandwich with roasted red peppers, garlic aioli, and chipotle salt ($10, pictured below) hit the spot; the finishing salt made all the difference, amplifying the already-great flavor combination.
All sandwiches and salads come with these unique house-made salts, such as the house roast beef sandwich with peppercorn salt ($10).
The sweet treats are a must, especially the oversized cookies. Every cookie in the world wishes it were like these, which have dark and milk chocolate chunks melted throughout the warm and chewy goodness. I contemplated retrieving the small bit that fell on the floor.
Whether you want a quiet weekday coffee break or a casual weekend brunch (they’ll even offer to put a little bubbly in your OJ), Blind Dog Café is a fitting choice with simple yet fantastic menu options.
