Belgian Chocolate Cocktails!

e started the week talking about oversized chocolate chip cookies and chocolate soup, so naturally we have to end it with chocolate cocktails (and an insulin shot, stat!).

Et Voila! has a series of dessert cocktails that are guaranteed to make you rethink the sweet, versatile stuff.

Known for its beer selection and mind-blowing moules frites and mussel burgers, Et Voila! introduces three Belgian cocktails ($9-$10) made with Callebaut Chocolate, a 150-year-old chocolate manufacturer that makes my beanie spin.

The Belgian Colada (pictured right), with homemade Belgian white chocolate, pineapple syrup, and Captain Morgan, is shaken until it resembles a sunny beach vacation sandwiched between Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kristopher Van Varenberg.

When it’s time to flex some serious muscle, Et Voila’s Belgian Coffee is Baileys Irish Cream, La Chouffe coffee brandy, whipped cream and a rich, full-bodied homemade chocolate sauce for a mix that’s black as Navy coffee but looks so much prettier when held in a snifter on a submarine.

Like a virgin? There’s a non-alcoholic hot chocolate with the surprising addition of cookiesque speculoos powder. It’s hot, thick and fragrant with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and white pepper. You may remember speculoos from those blue tins of Dutch cookies that make a mysterious appearance at all your family gatherings.
