Chinese New Year Brunch

This February, Richard Sandoval’s colorful Latin-Asian inspired restaurant, Zengo, will celebrate Chinese New Year 2013, the Year of the Snake.  Zengo will offer 3 special brunch dishes in its $35 bottomless brunch menu during February 9-10, 16-17, and 23-24, from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.

Feast on authentic dishes like Scallop and Bacon Gyoza Dumplings with chive, nigori sake-yuzu dipping sauce, which symbolizes wealth and luck; Crispy Skinned Pekin Duck with flour tortillas, orange coriander sauce, hoisin, leek, and pickled cabbage, which symbolizes family and good fortune, as well as Pork and Shrimp Lo Mein with crisp pork belly, bell pepper, water chestnut, and scallion.

Come for brunch, and then head down to the Chinese New Year Parade and Festival Sunday, February 10 from 2-5 pm on H Street NW between 6th and 8th Streets.  The event features the traditional Chinese dragon dance, Kung Fu demonstrations, live musical entertainment and firecrackers at 3:45 pm.

Lauren is a travel guru with a ceaseless case of wanderlust. She’s traveled around the world quite a few times where she’s dined on everything from alligator to zebra. Now that she has settled in the District, she’s always on a quest for the next culinary marvel (fried chicken and donuts, anyone?). She enjoys all things that include carbs, cheese and sauce and never says no to a good beer. If she’s not working in the travel industry by day or going to grad school by night you might spy her at a food truck or roasting a leg of lamb in her kitchen.
