Where GMF Is Drinking Coffee This Week-St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub
Long before Del Ray became a popular neighborhood to visit on the weekend sat a coffee shop by the name of St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub. Opened in 1996, Nora Partlow and her then business partner Scott Mitchell wanted to create a community gathering place that provided the same feeling most us have come to love when doing something we enjoy…contentment. They have succeeded.
Del Ray is the quintessential neighborhood of young families, eateries within walkable distance and of course a farmers market every Saturday morning. Welcoming all who enter their space, St. Elmo’s remains the epicenter of the community. Since live music is provided Wednesday through Saturday evenings, many residents stop in more than once a day which is always welcomed by friendly staff members like Dennis and Stephanie. What I adore most about this place is the feeling of comfort it provides. Additionally, supporting local vendors like Caboose Café located only a block away and the Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company keeps the love all within the DMV family.
Although it isn’t offered often, St. Elmo’s Macadamia Nut Coffee is my favorite and I’ll walk from home just to pick it up when I hear it is on the menu. Instead of sugar add a shot of coconut sweetener and I promise you’ll feel like you’re on a tropical vacation. Available for purchase you can recreate that peace of mind over and over again or at least until you run out.
With many varietals to choose from, you’ll have a blast mixing and matching flavors whether you’re there for the live music, the great location or most importantly the ambiance and coffee.
