Throwdown to New Year’s Showdown
The Mayan end of the world is 12.21.12. Oh, and a zombie apocalypse is involved. Then on 01.02.13, we may all plunge over the fiscal cliff. Even more reason to party on New Year’s Eve if we’re all still here.
On New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31, 2012, you can run ’round hither and yon’ sequestering your own provisions for a New Year’s Eve gig at the crib. You can go to the same ‘ol place you’ve always spent New Year’s Eve and wind up hurling in the gutter as you try to hail a “free” sober ride taxi.
You can blow a wad on a swanky experience complete with Uber ride at the end of the night. Or you can make dinner at home then go out somewhere to drink yourself into oblivion, so you’re not phased by zombies or cliffs. We’ve got options for every fiscal budget:
Rich as a Romnut ($400-up)
Full open bar all night at 14K Restaurant, plus VIP reserved seating, passed heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts, chef’s selection of jumbo shrimp and local oysters, live Vegas-style casino action featuring blackjack, roulette, craps and more, souvenirs, and midnight champagne toast, starting at $499. Room packages available.
What Fiscal Cliff? ($100-$399)
Bandolero’s “Mexican Cowboy Countdown” bash will include passed hors d’oeuvres and food stations, margaritas, cocktails, cava, beer and wine from 8:30 pm – midnight for $150 per person, inclusive of food, beverages, tax and gratuity. Food service stops midnight. Beverage packages from midnight – 2 am are available.
New Year’s Eve at either of Bourbon Steak‘s two seatings involves a 6-course menu featuring caviar and langoustine tartare for $175 (second seating). Wine pairing additional.
Unlimited tapas at Boqueria plus sangria, wine, beer, cava, porros stations, costume photo booth, DJ, Pedro Almodovar films, and doce uvas at midnight, $150.
Tantric 8-course menu at Co Co. Sala at 5 pm and 7 pm, first seating guests are subject to a time restriction, second seating starts at 8:30 pm; menu includes a glass of bubbly, party favors, live tantric music, and DJ, $125. Wine pairings additional.
Elisir presents a 7-course tasting menu, $150.
Ring in 2013 at Jack Rose‘s open bar from 8 pm – 1 am, with DJ, cigar specials, midnight champagne toast, complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres from 8:30-9:30 pm and a photo booth, $100.
“What Goes on at Lincoln, Stays at Lincoln” celebration which includes a 6-course dinner, midnight champagne toast, 10-piece band “David Akers and the Epitome,” and party favors, $140 all inclusive. Premium open bar packages and party only packages also available.
Ping Pong Dim Sum has a special menu from 5-10 pm, $120 per couple.
Restaurant Eve will be serving a 7-course tasting menu with two choices within each course, $200. Wine pairings available for $110. The Bistro is offering a 3-course dinner from 5-10 pm, $105.
Five-course tasting menu at Ripple, plus a champagne toast at midnight, $110. Wine pairings additional.
Take the 24-course Journey into 2013 at Rogue 24 from 5-10 pm for $135 per person. At 11 pm, the party starts with innovative tapas style canapés, champagne, rare wines, music, dancing, and more for $125. Dinner guests and Rogue Spirits guests may attend the party at a reduced price.
Sax presents a Masquerade Ball featuring a 4-course dinner, champagne toast, party favors, live performances throughout the evening, DJ, dancing, and a mini cocktail toast, $125. Bottle service available at additional cost.
Stood in Line 2+ Hours to Vote ($60-$99)
Ardeo+ Bardeo has a 4-course menu for $65.
Argonaut has all you can eat steamed seafood (steamed shrimp, crab legs, mussels, clams) from 7-9pm, open bar 7 pm – 1 am, DJ Kaiser of Soundclash playing Jamaican oldies and ska., Champagne toast at midnight $60
Mad Men-themed 3-course tasting menu at Art and Soul with beverage pairings and live jazz band, early seating $75, late seating (including champagne toast) $85.
BLT Steak’s Champagne and Caviar cart features 3 different osetra and domestic caviars and 6 sparklers including vintage Dom Perignon. Can’t live by caviar alone? The truffle-heavy 3-course prix fixe menu is $60 and features a midnight champagne toast (probably not the Dom).
Brightest Young Things hosts The BYT Fancy Schmancy New Year’s Eve Ball at the Former Spanish Ambassador’s Residence. $80 in advance, $100 at the door.
Cedar will offer a 5-course menu from 5-10 pm with delicacies like fois gras torchon and a cheese course, $79.
Crios Modern Mexican will have a full open bar from 9 pm – 3 am, light appetizers, and a champagne toast at midnight. A DJ will be playing a mix of current hits and old school classics. There is no dress code, $65-$85.
Cuba Libre kicks off the New Year with a 5-course Celebration Package starting at 9 pm including reserved seating, DJ, dancing, midnight champagne toast and party favors for $95. Early seating and party only packages available.
EPIC Smokehouse will offer a 3-course dinner and complimentary champagne, $60
Enjoy a 4-course menu inspired by 18th Century America at the Federalist for $95. Wine pairings additional.
Firefly will offer Rat Pack dinner specials. Cocktails (read: frankincense bitters) pairing additional.
Graffiato, 5-course tasting menu, complimentary champagne toast, $65. DJ and dancing from 11 pm – 2 am.
The Hamilton will offer its regular menu plus 3 chef’s specials. At 8:30 pm doors to the Hamilton Live open for a concert featuring Little Feat (the Jon Carroll Band opens). Standing room only tickets $84.99
Normally closed on Mondays, Hank’s Old Town will be open New Year’s Eve until 10:30 pm with filet mignon and butter-poached lobster risotto specials.
Starting at 5 pm, The Roof Terrace at Kennedy Center will have a 4-course dinner, complimentary glass of sparkling wine, live jazz by Rod Tompkins, skyline views plus admission to Grand Foyer Celebration, $95
Endless mezze at Lebanese Taverna with a belly dancer, party favors, and a champagne toast, $75.
Live jazz artist Tom Principato with special guest Tommy Lepson performs at Mad Fox Brewery. Appetizers, dinner and dessert buffets, plus champagne toast, $60.
The Majestic offers a 3-course dinner from 5:30-10:00 pm, $75.
Enjoy 3 small plates and dessert at Masa 14 for $50 from 5-9 pm, or stay all night for edamame, 3 small plates, dessert and 1 drink for $70. DJ after 10 pm.
Normally closed on Mondays, Mintwood Place will be open to offer 2 seatings for their special 6-course prix fixe tasting menu for $95. Wine pairings additional.
Nage has a 5-course tasting menu for $65 and is accepting reservations up until 11:30 pm.
New Heights will be serving 3 courses for $60 and 4 courses for $70. Gin or wine pairings additional. At 11:30 pm, the adjacent Gin Joint will host a Flappers/Great Gatsby costume party.
Inspired by a recent journey to Oaxaca City, Oyamel will bring in the New Year with 5 courses from 9-11 pm for $78. Includes cava toast.
Cabaret meets Parisian speakeasy at Poste with a swing band, outdoor winter bar fare, champagne specials and cocktails, staff in period uniforms, and options for bar snacks. Also, 5 courses for $80 or 7 courses for $110. Wine pairings additional.

Last Dance in Old Havana New Year’s Eve at Redwood with extravagant 3-course prix-fixe menu, live music from LG Band, casino games, heated outdoor bar and specialty 50′s Cuban cocktails, $78. Early bird and party-only options available.

Two seatings for Smith Commons’ special New Year’s Eve 3-course dinner menu for $60. Wine or cocktail pairings additional. The other floors will feature DJ Flufftronix or the Bob Butta Quartet and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.
Rat Pack Vintage Vegas at Sonoma with 3-course Italian dinner, complimentary champagne toast, and access to Vintage Vegas party, $75. Party-only option available.

Zentan is offering a 5-course prix fixe Asian-inspired meal of sushi, Singapore Slaw, dumplings and more for $95.

Your Irish eyes will certainly smile as you ring in ’13 at Duffy’s open bar (beer and wine) with special prices on drinks, $45.
Hank’s Dupont will offer filet mignon and lobster specials plus a free bottle of champagne per couple between 10-11 pm. The lounge is hosting a party at 11 pm complete with party hats and horns. There is no charge and all are welcome.
The Heights will offer their full menu in 3 courses for $39. Wine pairing additional.
Jackson 20 has a 3-course menu for $38. There’s also a separate Roaring ’20’s Party including bathtub photo booth and live band.
Matchbox Capitol Hill will offer a pre-set menu and a sneak peek of Ted’s BULLETIN doughnuts, accompanied by 20 wine pairings. $36
Open bar and light hors d’oeuvres at Penn Social, plus specialty spirits, DJ, balloon drop, and champagne toast at midnight, $49.
From 6-9 pm, eat your heart out on Jack Rose Dining Saloon’s rooftop at “Punch, Pints, Pork” all-you-can-eat pig roast for $35.

Bar TNT will feature $4 drink specials from 5:00 pm – 1:30 am.
No Fuss New Year’s Eve at Cafe Saint Ex. No reservations required, music by DJ Neville C., free admission.
“The Warriors” themed party at Marvin featuring feathers, leather, and denim. $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Mellow Mushroom will have no cover, with DJ Eskimo spinning Funk, Soul, Reggae and Hip Hop. Enjoy $5 Jameson shots, $4 specialty Svedka cocktails, Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat $1-$4 and free midnight toast from 9pm to close.
From 5 pm – 1 am, Policy will be by reservation only; from 8-10 pm, drink specials and complimentary appetizers will be available in the lounge; from 10 pm – 1 am, enjoy bottle service and a champagne toast in the lounge.
