Table Debuts Today

This is a big week for the District.  We’re on the cusp of Inauguration (word on the street is Beyonce will be attending), Morrissey croons by way of the Strathmore, Food & Wine gets sweet on DC, and Washington tastemaker Frederik de Pue of 42˚Catering and Smith Commons fame, opens the doors to his newest eatery, Table.

Today, the ovens at 903 N Street, NW will be ablaze, champagne will be on ice, and the smell of wine-simmered mussels and roasted trumpets will permeate the 50-seat haute spot and make Shaw’s belly rumble. The menu at Table will be seasonal, simple and focused. From a plate of tempered root vegetables to sweetbreads, de Pue covers serious ground in versatility.

Table will offer a generous list of vino and the craftiest of craft brews. There isn’t a full bar (yet), but what Table lacks in hooch, it makes up tenfold in personality and flavor. With an open kitchen and plans to expand to brunch service come February, de Pue’s new baby may become the Gosling of Shaw: dapper, relevant, and oh so delicious. Be prepared–there are no reservations. Seating is first come, first serve. But fear not, A&D Bar is just around the corner and will happily scratch any pre-dinner cocktail itch you may hanker.
