But if you can’t make it to Louisville, Kentucky, you can still take that ashtray hat out for some air. The race lasts only as long as your ex-boyfriend’s stamina in bed, but there will still be plenty to do all afternoon:
Things get started mid-week when Del Frisco’s hosts a Derby Bourbon dinner May 1 at 6:30 pm. Taste Kentucky’s best bourbons like Knob Creek, Makers Mark, Bookers, Old Grand Dad and more. They’ll be paired with 5 courses of Southern deliciousness like jumbo shrimp wrapped in sugar-cured bacon, smoked pork loin with grits and ice cream sandwiches. $70 per person. 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC. 202.450.4686
Naturally, mint juleps and Kentucky grub will be on the day’s menu at Jack Rose on May 4. Start early with a rooftop brunch from 11 am-3 pm or come later for the viewing party from 4-7 pm. Enjoy free Southern nibbles, spiked sweet tea and Shandys. 2007 18th Street NW, Washington, DC. 202.588.7388

Break out that 3-foot-tall fascinator (no, not Peter Dinklage) and join the Wonders Pink Party May 4 at 7:30 pm. Funds raised will benefit the Financial Assistance Program which provides resources to families in need. Tickets $30 in advance, $40 at the door.
